Turning Triggers into Self-Understanding

A compassionate, practical guide to using emotional reactions as pathways to deeper self-awareness.

Launch Offer: $15 AUD (normally $25) until 31 July, 2026

Why I Created This Guide

Every day, I meet people who tell me they're tired of reacting the same way.

They've read the books, listened to the podcasts, and tried to "manage" their emotions, yet they still find themselves caught in the same patterns of people-pleasing, shutting down, overthinking, becoming defensive, feeling rejected, or wondering why seemingly small situations affect them so deeply.

What I've learnt as a psychologist is that these reactions are rarely random.

They're often intelligent protective responses that developed for very good reasons.

Instead of asking, "How do I stop feeling this way?" I believe a more helpful question is, "What is this reaction trying to show me?"

That's the perspective behind this guide.

Rather than teaching you to suppress your emotions or think more positively, this guide helps you use emotional triggers as a doorway into deeper self-understanding. It offers a compassionate, structured way of making sense of the patterns that keep showing up in your relationships, your work, and the way you relate to yourself.

What You'll Find Inside

A practical workbook designed to help you begin understanding your emotional world in a different way.

Inside you'll discover:

Understanding why you're triggered

Learn why emotional reactions often have far deeper roots than the situation happening in front of you, and why you may be responding to something much older.

A new way of understanding emotional patterns

Explore how experiences from the past can shape the beliefs, protective strategies, and relationship patterns that continue into adulthood—even when you're no longer in those environments.

Real-life examples

See how common situations like criticism, conflict, delayed messages, or simple requests can activate much older emotional wounds, making the concepts easier to recognise in your own life.

Learning the difference between triggers and boundaries

One of the biggest misconceptions in healing is believing every emotional reaction means "it's my trauma."

This guide explores how to recognise when you're responding to an old wound, when a genuine boundary has been crossed, and how both can exist at the same time.

A guided 7-step reflective process

You'll be guided through a structured framework to help you:

  • identify the trigger

  • understand the emotional response

  • connect with the underlying feelings

  • recognise recurring patterns

  • uncover core beliefs

  • respond with greater compassion

  • develop deeper trust in yourself

A compassionate way to work with yourself

The guide also prepares you for the moments when this work feels difficult. Instead of seeing these experiences as failures, you'll learn to understand them as part of the process.
